Interesting to see recent reference to former old boy Jeremy Spenser. In 1962 i remember a group of us doing Latin were taken by Jake Gorman to LAMDA to see him and Alfred Burke as Tiresias in a production of 'The Bacchae'

Hi Noel, I joined Mr Smart's 1a in 1958 before the next year's stream shake-up, and although not close friends remember you very well. I,unfortunately, dropped out before being able to see your well-received performance of 'common man' to Dicky Price's equally well-received Thomas More.(Wonder why 'A Man for All Seasons' does not figure on your favourite film list. Perhaps you thought Blakely and Scofield paled by comparison with Sloane!
Although not of particularly sportive figure or ability I formed friendships with many of the 1958 intake and tend to remember even those on my periphery-it's difficult not to with the daily roll call for a year. The most influential teacher was Sloane's own 'Mr Chips'- Keith Lumsdaine,or 'Lummy' as we, who accompanied Him on many weekend excursions, knew Him. From this group i particularly remember Boother as an ever-present member. After 'Lummy' as far as the 'Arts' side was concerned, there was 'Jock', 'Len' Hill and a few later sessions with Peter Carlin, whom I gather was the 'Lummy' of later intakes.
I'm still in contact with Graham Carr, whom you may remember as a rival in the 'Long Plunge' finals at Chiswick Baths and quite an all-rounder at throwing events-shot, discus and javelin as well as resident on football and cricket first elevens along with Richard 'Prof' Hall. Norman Hanlon and Eric Idle inter alia.
Had a meet up in my area with several other old Cheynians on Saturday 10th Dec- all out of my era but John Bolland still looking disgustingly fit. Most of my enforced physical activity was under supervision of Ind and Alford.
Don't know if my name rings any bells with you at all.
Have a great day on the 24th. Very best wishes,
A year below you, although not of a sporting bent myself was good friends with Graham Carr, Norman Hanlon, Richard 'Prof' Hall, Alan Idle among others of the sporting fancy of the late 1957 intake. Am i mistaken in the belief that you turned out for Sloane United as well as playing alongside the others in Sloane matches?
