I do remember in my time at Sloane between 1953 and 1956 Guy Boas was an epic headmaster and an incredible scholar and historian. He also wrote for Punch magazine which was complete satire in those days, almost like Private Eye lol

A few memories as I am now, dogs in my life, I lost my wife in 2004 to cancer. I kept these swimming Certs as I was so proud and even beating Roy Stonard in those days was a feat. And a pic of my wedding in Wealdstone 1967.
I also have fond memories of Mr Gilliland as I knew of him.He was my class master in 1954 and he took me under his wing as I was a very stong breaststoke swimmer and he coached me for the all London Schools Championships which at that time were held in the Chelsea swimming baths. Unfortunately he had entered my name late and when we arrived at the baths, mum and dad in tow also I was not allowed to swim and I could have beaten the boy who won the race I should have been in. It was a huge disapointment and I cried my eyes out, I think I'm a bit tougher these days lol
